Push the blog for blogging glory

The power of the blog should never be underestimated by web designers and web masters alike. These pages on a site can are multifunctional, and are both traffic pullers and retainers. They are also a good way of engaging with your readership, which gives your company or website a human face.

Of course, one of the factors that determines whether or not your blog succeeds is getting people to look at it in the first place. A lot has been written about this subject, but in my opinion only the basics have been covered. The aim of this article is to open your mind to different ways of pushing your blog, to attract traffic from unlikely quarters.

The basics

Social networking: Much has been written about spreading the word of your blog through this medium. There is a lot of justification in this claim, as one person recommending your site, carries a lot of weight with other potential blog readers. The following sites I have found to be the most useful for spreading the word.

Facebook – Not so much for telling your friends about your blog, though this always helps, but the power of Facebook advertising is nothing short of incredible. If the aim of your blog is to sell a product or service, then you should investigate advertising on Facebook rather than, in my opinion, Google.

When I advertised www.link-optimise.com simultaneously on Facebook and Google, Facebook pulled in an average of 80 hits per day, compared to 6 per day from the mighty G. The reason? Though your ad may appear as an impression with Google, it does not guarantee it is going to be seen by the public at large. To see the ad, a person may well have to click on the “more links” button, and then click “more”, to actually view the ad. Nobody does this unless they are trying to discover where exactly their ad is making an impression.

Facebook, on the other hand, puts an add right in front of your target demographics screen. They are just off to the right and good ad wording, in our case “Tired of being nowhere on search engines”, catches the eye. Though you could argue that an impression is wasted if it is not at the target audience, it is more wasted if it does not appear on screen at all. Considering an impression on Facebook has a target audience in the millions, can you really ask for a better place to put an ad?

You can also create a Facebook page for your blog, and if you are a regular reader, you will know you can link your WordPress blog to Facebook and vice versa.

Twitter. A very good site for telling your following that you have a blog and to draw attention to anything that is new on the blog, whether it be a new look, article, picture, or page. It is also good for letting people know there is a blog and it is yours. If you think of twitter, think of blog promotion. As with all social networking sites you can link them together, so linking twitter to your Facebook page for your blog, is highly recommended. That way updates on the blog page of Facebook, appear as tweets on twitter automatically.

Digg and Delicious are two other good social networking sites. Every time you upload something new on your blog, you can bring attention to it via Digg. A good choice of words and a good following on Digg, can generate readers of your articles which is what you want. If you are a clever user, you can write about a similar article to one that is already popular via Digg, and capture the same readership in the process.

Delicious is another good site which works in a similar way. The difference being that it brings attention to an entire page, rather than an article, picture, or film. This site is especially popular with designers who use it to showcase their work. Delicious is not limited to works of design however, and showcasing your articles on this site are always a winner.

Technorati. This is a great way not so much of spreading the word, but to generate links to your site, which is what Google analyses when working out where to put your blog following a search for your site on a search engine page. See back links below.

There are other social networking sites, that cater for a more specific kind of blog, or artistic works. My Space is perfect for musicians, as is blip.fm for music lovers. There are hundreds of social networking sites, and they all have their niche. Take time to explore and to enjoy them.

Use WordPress for you blog.

The advantages of WordPress as the platform for your blog has been showcased all over the web. Not only can it be customised very easily every hour of every day if you want to, it also has some great plugins for search engine optimization. I have found these plugins to be very good at generating that much needed search engine awareness, and to track my progress of my blog, as it battles for supremacy on the net.

Platinum SEO pack. Gets you noticed on Google and the like. Make sure you check the options.

Google analyicator. I have found this the most effective plugin for linking your blog to your Google analytics account.

XML sitemap plugin. This creates an XML sitemap of your blog, which is perfect for Google’s Webmaster Tools.

Another great advantage to WordPress is its ease of use. Not just for themes and plugins, but to upload content to it. This does not have to be the written word either. Photos, films, and sound files can all be easily placed on your blog, and then they are all there for the world to see. Clever use of the facilities offered by WordPress can make all the difference to how your blog appears to readers.

WordPress, can also be used to feature social networking buttons, so it is easy for readers to link to your other social networking sites, as well as subscribe to your RSS feed.

A quick note on search engine optimization and how it ties in with social networks and pushing your blog.

When you write an article or upload something to your blog, it is a good idea to use as many social networking sites as possible to spread the word an event has taken place on your blog. This can be a time consuming process, which is why it is important to link as many social networks together as possible.

What you write to promote your blog is very important. Search engines look for something called anchor text. This is text that is embedded in source code, that can be linked to similar words on your blog, or what you write to promote your blog. I have found that on twitter, if I want to draw attention to myself as a freelance writer, a phrase such as “New article on Teahon”, the anchor texts will be, “article, Teahon”. This is ok, but it has not linked freelance writer with myself or my article. If I write “New article from Teahon, freelance writer”, then the chances are it will create the following anchor text. “Article, Teahon, freelance writer.”

When choosing words to push an article try and use ones that link what you do, who you are, and what you want people to know, together. It does not have to be Shakespeare, just meaningful and precise.

Further ways to search engine optimize

If you know anything about search engine optimization, then you are undoubtedly aware of a concept called back linking. This is the main ingredient for search engine optimization, and is in essence, external links to your website from others. Think of this as a voting system, that search engines use to rate your blog in the wider world.

Digg creates a good back link to your site, as does technorati. So be sure to push your sites on these mediums. If you want to increase popularity further, then you can post on discussion forums and blogs that are similar in nature to your own. If you are flowing this route, be sure to post constructive contributions, and not just rubbish like “Great post, thanks”. It is unlikely to get past comment moderation software if you do, and quite rightly so in my opinion.

Another good way of promoting back links is to submit articles to article submission sites. Ensure there is a link to your site from the articles, and you will have a good, solid back link to your blog.

A controversial route is to submit your site to website directories. Google, is reported not to like these and ranks them little in the way of solid back linking to your website. I paid a company to put my site www.teahon.co.uk, on a hundred website directories, and found that Google did not rate any according to Webmaster Tools data. Having said that, it did generate a lot of direct traffic, so was it a complete waste of money?

Competitions.

These are a good way to generate interest in your blog, and does not mean you have to fork out a bundle of cash either, providing you box a little clever. Many websites will donate prizes to you providing you mention them in your blog. How far this has to go will have to be negotiated by you, but in general as they are putting up the prize, a whole section of the blog for the competition could be a good idea.

Content

It can not be overstated how important it is that your blog’s content engages with your readership. Stale content loses traffic and once it is lost, it is extremely hard to get it back. Ensure that your content, is relevant, accurate, and speaks to the reader or viewer. Try and promote debate with your articles without being obvious. The more people that join in the better. Remember, the content is what blogging is about. If this lets you down, no amount of promoting is going to keep people coming back for more.

There is no substitute for engaging, vibrant and interesting content. Content is King, everything else is nobles at court. Make sure you regularly update it to.

I have found these to be good ways to promote your blog, or website. They are all fairly easy to implement, and a little time, effort and careful choice of words, can really make your blog shine through from the crowd.

It is worth remembering that blogging is highly competitive in some areas, and only by promoting your blog in someway will you gain attention for it.

30 fast life seo tactics and techniques

e all love the fast life of the SEO industry, don’t we? Each day is a challenge and the sheer diversity of tasks makes this profession so refreshing. As we have to deal with a plethora of developments, hundreds of ranking factors and daily breaking news which can make or brake a business we’re also short on time all the time. We’d like to do so much more during a day or the business hours but we can’t. Sometimes it seems that the actual time we have to perform SEO tasks is the shortest in between all the Web buzz. This will be most probably truer than ever in 2010. On such days it’s best to remind yourself that there are at least 30 fast life SEO tactics/techniques for 2010 you can sometimes make use of in minutes or a few hours.

So I’m not talking about long term strategies here. I’m not even mentioning great ways of getting links like widget bait that take time and planning and a team to make them happen.
Here I want to list SEO tactics you can use while living the fast life of the SEO industry.
.
Blogging
Do you doubt that blogging is probably the number SEO technique these days? Yes, it’s both tactic and strategy. It works both as a long term endeavor to gain trust and authority and as a quick way to get links, traffic and overall attention. There are several ways to use SEO to gain traction fast. For some of them you don’t even need a blog yourself.
  • blog commenting – No bot-like “great post, thank you” crap. write blog comments that makes sense, even short ones, Nick of Brick Marketing is my favorite blog commenter when it comes to it. Always 100% and on point he manages to add value even contributing just a one liner.
  • guest blogging – pitch blogs that already seek guest bloggers and approach bloggers who haven’t yet but probably would (most do)
  • making interviews – interview others or get interviewed. In case you’re too new to get interviewed ask others questions and they’ll be glad to answer them unless they’re too successful and busy already
  • featuring other bloggers – write about, describe, list them. In order to forge lasting relationships within your niche you should support your niche bloggers anyways. What better way is there than to make the first step and write about them?
  • microblogging – Set up microblog like Tumblr, Soup, Posterous etc. and start posting links instead of only on Delicious ond Twitter
Social Media
Social media is the main stream now. Do you know many sites that are not social in some way? At least by added buttons o social sites? By now social is the norm so everything SEO is social as well as SEO deals with a social Web not a static one.
In 2010 these social sites have even more influence on search both directly and as ranking factors. You’ll see results from Twitter on “hot” topics and you’ll see popular stuff ranking better then ever as the search engines move to include the tweet and other votes as a link equivalent.
  • answering questions on Twitter – people tweet questions related to your buiness or industry all time, some even mention your brand. Reply. Help them. Some will be very grateful. they will remember you or link you instantly. They will want to make business with you or hire you. Not all of them ut there are enough of such people.
  • answering questions on Yahoo Answers – people ask the most basic questions on YA and other Q&A sites. In case you know just a little bit you appear already as an expert. You get recurring traffic from YA right to your doorstep.
  • vote begging (via Twitter, Skype) – There is no shame in it. Do it right though. Don’t ask all the time and don’t ask the same people over and over.
  • expanding LinkedIn network – only approch people who know you at least virtually. Otherwise offer a really good explanation why you want to connect.
  • republishing – Use services like Ping.fm for “multichannel” publishing of your online assets. Also see “microblogging” above.
Content Creation
Content creation always has been a big part of clean SEO. No content – nothing to get indexed. In 2010 when everybody, even the last of the big players align  their content creation strategy with Google. So how do you want to compete with them?
How do you want to stand out from the vere growing crowd? How can you achieve all of the above fast? Some ways come as no surprise here but still work (lists) or rather better than ever (case studies, tutorials).
  • compiling lists – compiling a list is the classic form of providing useful resources online. People scan don’t read on the Web so list will always be popular even though the Internet is a little oversaturated with them as of now.
  • making case studies – every business can create case studies, unless the business just started. Make case studies more than just ad copy. Provide useful clues for the general public and industry insiders alike.
  • writing how tos/tutorials – along list, how to articles and tutorials are the most common pillar content types. Things that seem completely self-evident to you are hard to grasp for others. So provide them with written assistance. Even something like “how to perform a Google search” might be very useful to plenty of readers.
  • publishing other media – sometimes an image says more than 1000 words. You can even make an image of text and will spread virally via microblogs, image bookmarking sites and other social media channels
  • creating overviews – other than big lists overviews do not aim to overwhelm with information, they make huge chunks of information digestible for the casual visitor. For instance an overview of the newly available Android smartphones is hell of a helpful thing these days but there are numerous other topics only a few people can overview without someone who creates an catual overview in a simple table or infographic.
Real Time Search
Google has introduced real time search results from several sources but mainly Twitter to enhance regular search results. You may notice a scrollable section on the Google results page. That’s it. Also Google News results appear there among others. So it’s a old and new search features combined.
  • scheduling tweets – Currently the real time Twitter results integration is somewhat simplistic. In most cases the last tweets containing a keyword get included. So to make sure to appear on top you have to repeat your tweets from time to time. there are plenty of tools that allow you to schedule recurring tweets or simply to “tweet later”. I don’t advise you to completely automate that process though. Make sure not to scare away your followers.
  • integrating twitter into your blog. I’ve tested numerous ways of Twitter integration into blogs and most of them don’t work as desired. Right now I recommend adding a Twitter retweet button. Topsy is my favorite currently but has its flaws.
  • using hashtags – add #hashtags to your tweets. Not all tweets about SEO contain the term SEO. The easist way to make people interested in the topic will see it is to add a so called hashtag like “#seo” (without quotes).
  • using Google Hot Trends – Watch Google Hot Trends and tweet/write on topics people actually care about at a given moment in time. It’s in a way a real time keyword research tool. I’m not referring to the “Tiger Woods Guide to SEO”. Pick topics that fit your publication.
  • publishing press releases – press releases aren’t dead. They show up in Google News and thus in real time search for “hot” topics.
Personalized Search
In late 2009 personalized search results have been introduced to every Google searcher unless s/he opts out. That means search reulst get personal by default and most people won’t even know. URLs they click more often than others will be ranked on top. Some people argue that the difference won’t be as big but you surely don’t want to find out the hard way. Instead, try to optimize for personalized search from now on.
  • creating and optimizing your Google profile – create a Google profile for yourself, your company and your employees. Add your connections there.
  • making people click your search results – there are plenty of ways to make people click on your search snippet in search results, the best one is to show those who like you already a SERP where you actually rank on top. I use gog.is/seo+2.0 for that task.
  • asking for clicks – this is no joke, you have to ask your followers, fans, friends, employees and partners to actually click on search results where yo rank well
  • encouraging use of SearchWiki – The Google SearchWiki still exists and allows you to personlaize your search results actively. Those voted up rank on top of all others! Make people push those buttons by offering a prize for th best SearchWiki comment.
  • make friends – this is still the best way to get people to return. Make friends on social media and offer other incentives to trust you.the best way to say “I ant to be your friend” is by giving a gift. A link is the best gift in SEO circles.
Page Speed
While real time search and personalized search get most of the buzz the introduction of page speed as ranking factor is big news that deserves more attention. In a way now the fast life of the SEO industry has become literally faster. How to optimize for speed so that you also rank better?
  • using Google Webmaster Tools – The easiest way to find out wther your site is too slow or slower than average ist to look it up in Google Webmaster Tools.
  • dropping third party scripts – Most webmasters use thid party scripts these days. Do you really need 5 Analytics tools, font embedding, social media widgets
  • combining CSS and JS files – For every CSS and JS file you need an extra “connection” to your server. Make sure to minimize their number.
  • removing useless gimmicks – Do you really need those fance JQuery effects? Think twice.
  • removing Flash and huge images – Face it: Images and Flash (Video!) are still the biggest obstacles when it comes to load time. Even on fast Internet connections need a while for those.
Google Caffeine
These days the new Google index dubbed Caffeine will appear in search results. It has been rumored to be one of the biggest changes in years but nobody can really tell what changes might occur.
Those who suggest some actual changes only talk about minor ones and to keep going with a sound content creation and SEO strategy. So instead of optimizing for Google Caffeine just try drinking some coffee to spice up your blog postings and other content. These suggestions might be a little humorous.
  • drinking less coffee – Google will bring enough caffeine in the search engine so you should curb your consumption in order not to get penalized
  • buying only organic and fair trade coffee – Buying non-organic non-organic coffee will be considered black hat so make sure you don’t exploit humans or algos
  • relying solely on caffeine – dump toxic energy drinks that make you dizzy and your bowels hurt. Caffeine is the only natural enhancement of human energy levels and search engine results
  • tweeting under the influence – tweet while drinking coffee. The caffeine will make your tweets livelier and better digestible. Your followers and Google will love it.
  • consuming caffeine without the coffee – in case you don’t drink coffee you don’t have to. there are plenty of non-alcoholic drinks containing lots of it. Cola is probably the most known but I don’t recommend. It’s very bad for your teeth among other issues.

I hope you can make use of some of these 30 fast life SEO tactics/techniques for 2010. I know that the list format doesn’t allow really deep insights. So in case you have questions on some of the tactics/techniques feel free to ask. I may elaborate on them in a new post on SEOptimise or my own blog.

Why seo transcends tactics tips or techniques

When pondering a simple question, what is SEO? and is it just a bunch of tactics or techniques, this is what came to mind

SEO Transcends Techniques

SEO is many things, but it is really the basis of understanding which keywords, markets and methods produce results. You can tweak all the meta tags and descriptions you want, add all the pages, external links or internal links you want or program in just about any platform possible (cfm, asp, aspx, php, html, xhtml, etc.) but without a firm grasp of how everything fits together, it is all in vein.

Just like the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, SEO transcends the basic parameters it utilizes to express itself. Rankings are nothing without conversion, and SEO does not matter, unless the market is present and a genuine demand exists.

You could exhaustively cover every facet from the level of usability, programming, design, conversion optimization, market research, competitor analysis, analysis tracking with key performance indicators, baseline benchmarks and the like, but there are all tied by one unique thread that runs through them all (monetization, compensation and results).

There is not enough time in the day to work for working’s sake just to play with ideation and theory, you have to roll up your sleeves, assess all the metrics that are imperative to the success of your website, understand the trends, market, influencers and your competition to push through the barrier to entry and rise above common obstacles online.

For as much energy and effort you put into your website, there is always someone out there pushing a little but harder. Just as Tony Montana “Al Pacino” from Scarface said “Never Underestimate the Other Guys Greed”

So, while you are content to carve away a few keywords in a market and religiously monitor them to see which keywords slipped a few positions that day, there are others out there targeting entire markets with virtually limitless budgets because they understand one thing. What works and how to replicate it…

What is their secret? It is time divided by return on investment scaled by market share. Meaning, while you spend a few hundred dollars to acquire a keyword, a competitor may spend thousands under the same parameters to optimize several. While you write one blog post, there are companies with entire teams dedicated to writing who post 20 a day to stay on top.

We are firm believers in targeting hundreds of keywords simultaneously and eventually ranking for thousands of keywords in the same time other SEO firms might focus on a dozen. You have to hedge your efforts, understand your competitors, but also observe their weaknesses while leaning into your own strategic advantages.

Why settle for a few keywords, when you could dominate a niche, why settle for one website, when you could have several working on your behalf, and why target a few keywords, when you could virtually devour your market whole.

The only difference is (a) commitment (b) method (c) budget (d) management and (e) execution. If you can successfully implement each of these collectively, and understand that online marketing is about ROI, then it is only a matter of time before you understand that SEO by design is the basis, and the deeper the knowledge base you have to use at your disposal, the more impact you can make.

We have given away a lot of free information on this blog, methods and SEO techniques we created, implemented and have tested time and time again. Search engines are by no means done with their evolution.

Just as we are passionate about optimizing content, website platforms,  SEO plugins, methodologies, etc, there are those who are just as passionate about keeping their inner workings a mystery to all those on the outside.

We commend those engineers for upping the ante so to speak and the competition for pushing the envelope, as they give us an opportunity to improve our game and add to our repertoire of optimization methods.

That which does not kill you makes you stronger, and that which pains you the most at times, can be your greatest inspiration. SEO is more than just a collection of techniques and tactics, it is a lifestyle which embraces many layers to fully understand and implement (beyond the processes involved).

This is why we share so much at SEO Design Solutions, because we understand that competition is healthy, that profitable markets are fierce and you can talk about SEO all day, but unless it produces results then it’s not SEO…

WordPress is the best title system

Very important factor for the event title in wordpress seo. I myself was researching a title template. I found the most suitable one of them.

<br /> <?php wp_title(''); ?><br /> <?php if(wp_title(' ', false)) { echo ' | '; } ?><br /> <?php bloginfo('name'); ?><br />

If you do this inside the page will be in the format

Comments on the Importance of the Articles of gold

I like my posts, however, is not writing, draw visitors from Google is the information in comments below!
Therefore, we know the value of the comments our requirements and regulations. Have to correct spelling errors. Comments by people instead of the title has me hi or hello, in accordance with this title is change for people that visitors can easily find what they’re looking for. This interpretation is not in the title alone anywhere. Blogcu.com ‘too. A very useful thing.

Issues need to delete the junk from the old post, comments have to delete messages instead of written kelâm salute. Comments appear in an entire summer and you.

Comments should add to our personal friendship relations. If you write something else instead, we comment, let me again, but “you can delete the” Let’s write a note.

Important comment. Because writing matters of rich. Each other’s horizons expand. Can affect their mutual perspectives. In addition to providing information and searching for information and ad revenue Mitzvah:) Keep winning the campaign, called Sprinkle things up to the value of bloglarımıza floor has great importance.

Search engine optimization(SEO) tactics

Hi,

By someone known to you a little about seo tactics will. If you truly do, if robust, durable and can get high hits in size.

Tactical following;

Especially for those who like to muscle backlick open a site, but script (system) do not install. We are under construction and a place index toplist, prli do-no follow blogs, or other directory type sites that provide Backlink can say “link is muscle”. This site is probably as much muscle as a result we have the Google sandbox filter box will enter the uncle. So in fact the situation appears desperate in the way of everything.

Enough to obtain by our own Backlink ie 1k, 2k. These words will vary according to size. In the meantime, let us say forgetting; Backlink muscle up and calls the first script when the future what we want out of word (title) and add.

Anyway, after that our systems are installed. Google’s new and update site automatically and we will link sandbox with an excellent view of the effects will reach.

Stay happy ..
